Hi, I’m Luca, and basketball is a massive part of my life.
I started Kid On Court because finding basketball stuff online can be harder than it should be. You might find clothes on one website, basketball gear somewhere else, training information on another site, then have to search again to find a club, camp or court near you.
I wanted to create one place where young players and their families could find all of that more easily.
But Kid On Court is not only about buying basketball gear. It is about everything that comes with loving basketball.
Basketball is more than a game
The main reason I love basketball is that it is fun to play with friends.
Some of my closest friendships have come from basketball, and I have met heaps of new people through playing. You train together, play games together and go through the good and bad moments as a team.
Of course, winning is great, but basketball is not only about the score. It is also about the people you meet, the confidence you build and the feeling of being part of a team.
That is what I mean when I say basketball is a lifestyle.
It is the games, training and early starts. It is talking about basketball with your friends, watching it, playing NBA 2K, checking out new shoes and wearing basketball clothes even when you are nowhere near a court.
Basketball becomes part of who you are.
Why I thought there should be one place for basketball
When you are looking for basketball products or information, everything is usually spread across different websites.
If you are just starting, it can be even more confusing. You might not know what size basketball you need, what to take to your first training session, which skills to practise or how to find the right club.
Parents might be trying to find a school holiday camp, a coach or somewhere their child can play. Players might be looking for gear, training ideas, clothes or honest reviews from someone their age.
Kid On Court is being created to bring those things together and make them easier to find.
What you will find on Kid On Court
The goal is to build Kid On Court into an Australian basketball hub for young players and their families.
You will find beginner guides, training ideas, basketball lifestyle content and honest reviews. We will cover useful topics like choosing the right basketball size, preparing for your first training session and working out which skills to learn first.
There will also be basketball clothing, gear, books, games, bedroom ideas, gifts and other things connected to the sport.
You can also explore our basketball directory to find clubs, training programs, camps, coaches and courts around Australia.
I will share things I have learned from playing basketball, including the good parts and the difficult parts. I do not know everything, but I can share what has helped me and what I wish I had known when I started.
Built for basketball kids and their families
Kid On Court is for kids who are picking up a basketball for the first time, players who are already part of a team and anyone who loves the culture around the game.
It is also for parents who are trying to work out where to begin and what their child actually needs.
You do not have to be the best player on the court to be part of basketball. You can be completely new, still building your confidence or just playing because you enjoy it.
Everyone starts somewhere.
This is only the beginning
Kid On Court started with a simple idea: basketball should be easier to explore, and the useful stuff should not be scattered everywhere.
I want it to become a place where basketball players can learn something, find something useful and feel like they are part of the basketball community.
